Pole versus Breit-Wigner resonance description of the orbitally excited baryons
We consider the masses used in recent studies involving the nonstrange sector of the l = 1 baryons. The use of T -matrix and K-matrix poles versus the conventional Breit-Wigner masses is discussed within the context of a large-Nc fitting scheme. While the mass and charge of a particle are typically the easiest quantities to determine experimentally, the proper way to define and extract the mass...

متن کاملMeasurement of resonance parameters of orbitally excited narrow B0 mesons.
We report a measurement of resonance parameters of the orbitally excited (L=1) narrow B0 mesons in decays to B;{(*)+}pi;{-} using 1.7 fb;{-1} of data collected by the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. The mass and width of the B_{2};{*0} state are measured to be m(B_{2};{*0})=5740.2_{-1.8};{+1.7}(stat)-0.8+0.9(syst) MeV/c;{2} and Gamma(B_{2};{*0})=22.7_{-3.2};{+3.8}(stat)-10.2+3.2(syst)...
متن کاملOn Gauge Invariance of Breit-wigner Propagators
We present an approach to bosonic (Z,W) as well as fermionic (top-quark) Breit-Wigner propagators which is consistent with gauge invariance arguments. In particular, for the Z-boson propagator we extend previous analyses and show that the part proportional to kμkν/M 2 must be modified near the resonance. We derive a mass shift which agrees with results obtained elsewhere by different methods. T...
متن کاملBreit-Wigner formula at barrier tops
For non-critical energies, the asymptotic behaviour of the scattering phase and of the time-delay are known to be described by a Weyl type formula and the BreitWigner formula respectively. We consider here the case of critical energy levels in dimension 1. We obtain the semiclassical asymptotics of the scattering phase and of the time-delay, uniformly with respect to the energy in a neighborhoo...
